Practical information

Facilities
The apartment is fully equipped. For convenience, we have added a link that gives you access to the user manuals of the electrical appliances.

House rules
Residents of Punta Azul are peace seekers and we like to provide a quiet and respectful environment in the apartment and at the resort.

Electricity
220V is available throughout the apartment. However, please note that the power can go out on the island or in certain areas. Such outages are usually resolved within a few hours, but they can sometimes last longer. You will find a flashlight on the kite swatter. Sometimes 1 of the 3 phases also fails. In that case, some devices may still work and others may not. The air conditioning and washing machine are often the first to fail (usually error E01 or F06). It’s a matter of waiting patiently until the problem is solved.

Wifi
The wifi password is on the card in the apartment. The speed is probably lower than you are used to and the connection also drops out regularly. This is not unusual on the island.

Air conditioning
Ensure a reasonable temperature: avoid extreme temperature differences between inside and outside.
Safety first: If you notice unusual noises, smells or leaks, switch off the device and contact our manager.
Energy efficiency: Due to the high energy costs on our island, we ask you to switch off the air conditioning when you are not using it.

Swimming pool
There is a communal swimming pool for all users of the resort. Use is at your own risk, there is no supervision. The pool is also not fenced off or secured. Pay extra attention to this if you are with small children or with people who cannot swim.

Access to the sea
There is direct access to the sea from the resort via a staircase at the end of the resort. Use is at your own risk, there is no supervision. Pay extra attention to this if you are with small children or people who cannot swim. Please note that the sea can sometimes be rough and there may be currents. If in doubt, do not enter the water.

Car rental
For the ultimate island adventure, we highly recommend renting a car. This gives you complete freedom to explore the area at your own pace. The nearest gas station is
in Barber. Please note that off-road driving (e.g. Vlakte van Hato) requires a 4WD vehicle and experience in navigating rough terrain. Rent your car directly through Caribiooh or Sonny Rentals, both reliable and affordable companies.

Public transportation
Although public transportation options are limited, there are local buses that can take you into town.

Parking in Punta Azul
Use the designated parking spaces. There is 1 designated parking space in front of the apartment. You can also use the parking spaces at the gate.

Best Beaches
Playa Kalki, Playa Piskado, Playa Kenepa Grandi (Grote Knip) and Playa Lagun are among the best beaches around Westpunt. To ensure the safety of your belongings, do not leave them unattended. When visiting the island’s beaches, even the popular ones, it is important to keep valuables out of sight in the car.

Snorkeling
Westpunt is known for its excellent snorkeling. You can rent snorkeling equipment from Go West Diving in Westpunt or buy basic equipment from a specialized dive shop.

Local Cuisine
Enjoy delicious local dishes at Westpunt’s fine restaurants (e.g. Cactus Cafe, Blue View, Playa Forti), Playa Kalki and Isabella Off The Beach. Fancy some authentic Creole cuisine? Then go to Komedor Krioyo in Dokterstuin country house, near Barber.

Nightlife
Relax while stargazing under a dark sky without light pollution.

Diving
The breathtaking coral gardens of Korta Pe, just off the cliff at Punta Azul, are just one of the many dive sites in the area waiting to be explored.

Hiking and Trekking
Discover the island’s natural beauty on a drive through Christoffel National Park. If you want to climb Mount Christoffel, follow all safety advice and instructions.
